Fans of superheroes are clamoring for what looks to be Netflix’s next venture into the Marvel world with Jessica Jones. We know bits and pieces about what’s to come with Jones. So far, it’s been announced that Melissa Rosenberg is the showrunner and it will be based on the comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos.
Casting has gathered some great acting talent, which should help Jessica Jones to become a successful show. The cast includes Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad) as the titular character, Jessica Jones, David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) as Kilgrave, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish “Patsy” Walker, and Carrie-Anne Moss as Harper. Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval have also been cast.
The show will focus on Jessica Jones, a former superhero that suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, who leaves the superhero game and decides to become a private investigator. Rosenberg describes Jones as “an incredibly damaged, dark, complex female character that kicks ass.”
As you might expect from the comic, the cases that Jones takes will deal with people that have interesting abilities. The series is located in New York City and was shot around Brooklyn and Long Island to get that Hell’s Kitchen feel to it.
The released pictures were assumed to be authentic releases from Netflix, but it was later found that the pictures were from the paparazzi. Still they do offer some idea of what we can expect from the show. The majority of the pictures show Luke Cage (Mike Colter) in some stage of being on fire. No worries though. Cage has unbreakable skin, so he won’t be hurt by all that fire encasing him! Of course, Jones does seem a little shook up by the ordeal, but she does have PTSD, and we imagine it can be pretty shocking seeing someone on fire!
